We’ll be taking off the month of May to rest and recoup before the busy summer…….and so Tommy and I can continue our 26 year tradition of going to the 500.  We go back to work on June 1 & 2 at one of our favorite places, the Slippery Noodle.  In the meantime make sure you get your daily dose of the BLUES!

Man, we had a super time in Clarksdale at the Juke Joint Fest! We played 3 gigs on Saturday on the Wade Barbershop Stage. the Delta Furniture Stage and at Channel Zilch. The whole band and/or parts of it got to play with some blues greats including Earl the Pearl, Robert ‘Wolfman’ Belfour, Fiona Boyes, Butch Mudbone and more. We need to thank Sean ‘Bad’ Apple for inviting us down and treating us to a gooood time. We’ll be going back for more next year.

Thankfully we don’t get much rest ’cause we’ve got four gigs coming up this week. On Thursday the 19th we’ll be playing for the first time at Show Me’s in Bloomington, IN at 6 pm. Then, on Friday and Saturday at 9:30 it’s the Apple Club in Terre Haute. We’ll close out the week on Sunday at 12:30 pm CST at the ‘Celebration: A Festival of the Arts’ on the EIU campus in Charleston.  Can’t get enough BLUES baby!

If you’re reading this you already know that, thanks to the efforts of the webmaster, Maharishi Shawn, our site is back up and running. It’s good thing because I know you must be getting DJBF withdrawal and because I need to remind you that next week we’ll be heading for the home of the BLUES, Clarksdale, MS to perform at the Juke Joint Festival. On Friday the 13th we’ll be hitting all jams we can find then on Saturday at 11 am we’ll bringing Hoosier blues to the Delta Furniture Stage.  After that it’s more jamming and more jamming.  If you can make the trip it will be well worth the effort.

We discovered a new place in Shirkieville, IN called the Midway and played there for the first time last night.  Owner Charlie made us feel more than welcome and what a blast we had! It’s a late crowd but when they roll they roll in. By the time we finished at 2ish the place was packed an hopin’.  I’ll let you know the next we’re there ’cause I highly recommend it. Later.

I admit I have not been on here posting as I should. I know that you have been sitting on the edge of your seats for weeks wondering when, oh when, is he ever going to let us know what the Blue Flames are up to. We have been busy starting on some new tunes for the next album and, unlike in the past, we may even learn them before they get recorded……….nah. Next month we’ll heading to Clarksdale, MS for the Junk Joint Fest. That will be a blast.
